Be Equipped to Reach South Asians
at SATYA Conference 2026

Explore the power of Christ as a way to engage with South Asian worldviews. Spiritual realities are often either ignored or feared, but Christ exercises absolute authority over evil powers with both compassion and power. More than simply overpowering evil, Jesus disarms it through the gospel, removing its power to condemn so that those who trust in him need not live in fear, but can worship him with confidence, knowing he uses his authority to save and protect.

The day will include practical seminars (choose 2 from 6 options), ministry spotlights, and stories, with time to connect with others who share a heart for reaching South Asians. This is a valuable opportunity for all Christians to deepen your understanding, sharpen your thinking, and be equipped for reaching the many South Asians who God has brought to Australia. We welcome Christians from across backgrounds and denominations.

Join us on 5 September 2025, from 9:30am-4:30pm at MBM Rooty Hill, with teaching from Ben George and Kamal Weerakoon. You’ll get to enjoy South Asian food and we encourage you to wear South Asian dress! Kids are very welcome, and while there will not be a formal kids program, a parents’ room will be available. Early bird tickets are $35 until 14 June, with regular tickets at $55 after that. Register today to secure your place!

SEMINARS

Understanding Spiritual Attack

Jeffrey Jones,

Pre Shunmugan and

Jeri Jones Sparks

What do we make of the many experiences that South Asians have with the demonic? Come along and wrestle with a Reformed perspective on how we can understand the spiritual attack in light of Christ’s power over every spiritual force. This seminar will deepen your theological framework and equip you to love those facing spiritual attack.

Migration Patterns

Jude Simeon

Australia is one of the world’s most unchurched nations, yet migration presents a significant gospel opportunity. Many South Asian migrants arrive spiritually open but face challenges like visa uncertainty, underemployment, language barriers, and isolation. At the same time, churches often struggle to engage across cultures. How can the Church respond with humility, understanding, and genuine inclusion?

Reaching South Asian Women

Lana Kularajah

and a H!ndu Background Believer

There are complex spiritual and cultural factors that make it difficult to evangelise and disciple South Asian women. Yet women also play a key role of spiritual leadership in South Asian families. Come and hear the experiences, joys and challenges of walking beside South Asian women toward maturity in Christ.

Using
Evangelistic Resources with South Asians

The South Asian lens of the world, especially of other religions, often approaches life and faith from different angles. It's helpful to understand the things that colour and touch their world and use them as starting points to share different elements of the life-giving gospel. Come and learn how to use contextualised gospel resources in the context of relationships.

Fundamentals of Nepali Ministry

Bijaya & Kate Shrestha

and Gordon & Ruth Russell

You may be surprised to learn that Nepalis are the fastest growing migrant group in Australia! But how are they different from other South Asians? What are the main challenges for Nepali migrants and churches? Come and hear from church planters, returned missionaries and others on what makes for a good Nepali ministry masala!

Fear/Power Dynamics and
the Gospel

Clive Buultjens

and Sam Chidamber

“Jesus died to take the punishment for my sins" is a wonderful truth, but often doesn’t resonate with H!ndus. Why not? H!ndus live in a fear/power paradigm, where they’re trying to harness the power of the gods or spirits for blessing, or protection from curses or demonic attack. How is Jesus good news in this context? Come and hear how the gospel addresses this important paradigm and how to share this with our South Asian friends and neighbours.
